Matteo Ciampica - Fragments – Poetics of the Instant
Art that Transforms the Gaze
In a time ruled by speed, disorientation, and the fragmentation of experience, Fragments – Poetics of the Instant, an initiative by Matteo Ciampica, emerges as a radical act of restoring meaning, presence, and depth to human time. This new project continues along the path of Ciampica’s poetics, built on dialogue, participation, and awareness. Here, the viewer is not someone who encounters a finished artwork, but becomes its origin.
The initiative invites anyone, from anywhere in the world, to send Ciampica a photograph. The criteria for choosing it are neither technical nor aesthetic, but profoundly human. It must capture a meaningful instant, a kairos—a moment full of significance, a fragment that has crossed one's consciousness and left an echo behind.
Ciampica selects some of these images and transforms them into digital artworks, reinterpreting them through his unique visual and symbolic language. Cypresses, skies opening onto other dimensions, mysterious lights filled with expectancy—these elements enter into dialogue with the received image, creating a fusion that does not erase the original, but expands it. In some cases, the digital works become paintings on canvas, turning participation into something even more concrete and enduring.
This deeply inclusive creative process breaks the traditional boundaries between artist and viewer. Those who participate are no longer external to the work—they become co-authors. The act of sending a photograph becomes an act of trust, of openness. Knowing that a personal instant has been chosen, reworked, and welcomed into the artist's vision creates a powerful emotional bond—a connection that transcends physical and cultural distances. Art is no longer simply observed; it is inhabited, shared, returned. It is not closed, self-referential or narcissistic, but generous—capable of building bridges between cultures, between gazes and stories that have crossed paths in time.
In an age where everything rushes by, overlaps, and is consumed in an instant, Ciampica invites us to pause. To truly see. To recognize in the smallest details a transformative energy. Every photograph sent becomes a threshold, a passage, a crack in chronological time. What would normally slip away is instead held, elevated, made into an image of eternity. The atomized flow of becoming is recomposed into the unity of the entire body of works. A sense of dilated, inhabitable, human time seems to emerge—time that welcomes and transforms. In this, Ciampica is not only an artist, but a philosopher of the invisible. His reflection on time is rooted in every gesture, every symbolic choice.
The simple act of sending a photo becomes a participatory gesture, a contribution to the creation of a collective artwork that goes beyond aesthetic value to become a true archive of meanings and shared experiences. The centrality of the Logos emerges—each image is a discourse, a testimony of dialogue. Art becomes shared language, an affirmation of critical presence. The cypress once again stands as sentinel of time, a symbol of observation and guardianship, guidance and memory. It watches over the boundary between what has been and what has newly emerged from the eternal echo of the unspoken.
In this Interazione as well, art is conceived as a collective construction , that defines a real community. The thousands of people who send photos, who participate, who receive the reimagined artworks—each becomes part of the same shared narrative. Those who submitted a photo, those who rediscover it transformed, those who observe the work without knowing the author of the image: all are part of the same process. Art becomes care—for wounds, for memory, for identity. Each work becomes a meeting point between differences, a place where otherness is not a threat but an opportunity. Each piece is a silent dialogue between souls who may never meet, yet find recognition in that image.
In the age of anti-Kairos, of distraction and overstimulation, Ciampica teaches us that to stop and look—and to allow ourselves to be seen—is a revolutionary act. It is a statement of resistance against the madness of urgency, of overstimulation, of immediate response. It is an invitation to recognize the value of our time, to protect it, and at times, to offer it. It is a chance to see our time through different eyes—because every instant can be eternal, if lived with depth.
Every gesture can generate meaning, if shared.
And it can bear witness to who we are—and who we hope to become.

PEOPLE FOR ART
More and more people are transporting my artworks from one city to another, traveling together all over the world. More and more people are writing to tell me about their emotions. In doing so, they become witnesses of a rediscovered time, an opportune time that generates solidarity and dialogue between human beings. Your testimony tells of an art rooted in existence, which permeates everyday life. Your participation expresses the need to find oneself in small gestures, in a brief understanding between strangers, in a simple painting to share. Your actions transform my art into an affirmation of life, into a critical presence in the world. Overcoming is built in interaction. Thank you for participating in my initiatives, your testimonies are the greatest reward for me. Thus, even my time in this world acquires a small meaning. Thank you again.
